Jillian Manthorne BSc. (MUN), DDH (DAL), BDSc. (UBC), RDH
Restorative Dental Hygienist
A Newfoundland native, Jillian was born and raised in St. John’s where she lived for the first 23 years of her life. She attended Bishops College High School graduating at the top of her class with honours. Upon graduation Jillian began her post secondary education at Memorial University of Newfoundland, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a major in Biology (BSc.). On completion of her first undergraduate degree, she was then accepted to the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University in pursuit of a Diploma in Dental Hygiene. This education became official upon successful completion of the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board examinations, making her a board certified Dental Hygienist. During her intense education at Dalhousie she took interest in all aspects of modern preventative dentistry, however she was particularly focused on periodontal, preventative and restorative dentistry. This interest served as her objective to continue her education all the way to Vancouver British Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a major in Dental Hygiene from the University of British Columbia. This additional training has provided her with an expanded repertoire of professional skills; including the administering of local anaesthetics, restorative dentistry, preventative dental hygiene and research interest becoming an adjunct to her full professional skill set previously attained.
Jillian has always maintained an active membership status on a national level with the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association as well as on all provincial and municipal levels. She is currently an active member with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries and the Kingston District Dental Hygiene Society.
Jillian keeps continued education as a strong professional and personal priority. She maintains a current awareness of updates and dental related professional change, by way of her attendance at national and provincial conferences and meetings, taking part in online educational webinars, reading journals, textbooks and using the internet as a regular mechanism for retrieving current information.
Since 2006, Jillian along with her business partner/husband, Dr. Moe Tabesh, have been calling Kingston home with their two dogs Lenny & Daisy and cat Leow. The couple and their animals are proudly involved with the Kingston East Community, Chamber of Commerce, Kingston Welcome Wagon and do their share to keep it one of the best places to live in Canada. On the weekend they enjoy taking their dogs for long hikes, running, cooking, traveling and spending time with their family and friends.
